Dar yaona mwezi Kikapu Majiji

KWA mara ya kwanza baada ya miaka kumi, timu ya mpira wa kikapu ya mkoa wa Dar es Salaam `The Dream Team’, imefanikiwa kutwaa Ufalme wa mchezo huo kwa Majiji ya nchi za Afrika Mashariki na Kati.

Ilikata kiu ya ubingwa huo mwishoni mwa wiki, baada ya kuikata maini Mombasa kwa pointi 59-50 katika mchezo uliojaa kila aina ya ushindani kwenye Uwanja wa Ndani wa Taifa, Dar es Salaam.

Hadi mapumziko The Dream Team walikuwa mbele kwa pointi 40-22. Nyota wa upachikaji pointi kwa Dar es Salaam walikuwa George Tarimo aliyefunga pointi 13 na Ashraf Haroun 11, wakati Danny Foster alitamba kwa upande wa Mombasa kutokana na kupachika pointi 10.

Wakati Dar es Salaam ilirithi mikoba ya Nairobi, mabingwa watetezi kutoka Kenya walioshindwa kutua nchini kutetea taji, Jiji la Kampala (Uganda) walitwaa Umalikia. Nao wametwaa ubingwa waliirithi mikoba ya wanawake wa Nairobi ambao hawakufika mashindanoni.

Kampala iliwatambia wenyeji Dar es Salaam kwa kuifunga pointi 55-48 katika mchezo wa fainali.

Kampala na Dar es Salaam walionesha upinzani mkali kwa wachezaji wa timu hizo kucheza mpira wa uhakika na mara kadhaa zilikuwa zikipishana pointi mbili au tatu kabla ya Waganda hao kuibuka na ushindi huo.

Wafungaji Kampala walikuwa Monica Sima aliyefunga pointi 13 na Mariam Amara aliyefunga 15 wakati kwa upande wa pointi zao zilifungwa na Amina Ahmed 23, Nina Mliga 21.

Kwa upande wa wanaume, Kampala ilishika nafasi ya tatu baada ya kuichapa Mwanza pointi 52-44. Wafungaji wa Kampala walikuwa Akita Herbert 11 na Apolot Michael 21. Pointi za Mwanza zilifungwa na Juma Kisoky 15 na Wilson Masanja 11.

Tangu kuanzishwa kwa michuano hiyo mwishoni mwa miaka ya 1990, Dar es Salaam ama imekuwa ikitolewa mapema au kushindwa katika fainali, hivyo miaka yote kuwa wasindikizaji.
