Holders Simba have maintained their unbeaten perfection to chalk maximum points after three rounds of the Mainland premier soccer league for the opening season.

The champions are perched at the top of the standings table with nine points accrued from three matches they played to open a two-point gap over rivals Young Africans.

Based in their second adopted home of Mwanza in the lake region, Simba have also taken their scoring tally to six goals while conceding two for a positive goal difference of four, one more than their rivals.

Virtually, Simba have gone 25 matches unbeaten run from the kick off of the previous season to date.

The rest of the eleven-teams have dropped some points through either losing or drawing up to this stage.

Simba’s Zambian coach Patrick Phiri has maintained his usual smile at the end of every game since the league kicked off on August 21.

Besides enjoying the pilot seat, the Msimbazi Street-based club has also been buoyant upfront with their talismanic striker Musa Mgosi still able to hug the nets for his scoring prowess.

The striker has taken his tally to three in as many matches on his way to golden boot award.

He equaled premiership record set by Kenyan Boniface Ambani with 18-goals to win the top scorer’s prize the previous season.

The fourth round kicks off tomorrow at several venues across the Mainland.

Slow starters Yanga dropped two points when they played Mtibwa Sugar in Morogoro’s Jamhuri Stadium on Wednesday.

Without points after three appearances are premiership new arrivals AFC from Arusha and Ruvu Shooting Stars who are at the base of the premiership standings with difference in goals superiority.
