Yanga`s appeal to TFF delayed

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has yet to set a date of which it will discuss Yanga`s appeal. TFF Information Officer Florian Kaijage said yesterday that the appeal committee would meet in appropriate time to discuss the appeal submitted by the team last Friday.

“No body can force us to discuss it. We will discuss it at our own pace,“ Kaijage said.

Kaijage said the committee members would set a convenient date for them to discuss the appeal.

“All members of the committee are employed in different companies, therefore, we need to give them time so that they set a convenient date,“ Kaijage added.

TFF imposed a two-year ban on Yanga from competing in the CAF organised tournaments for boycotting a Kagame Cup match last month.

The ban keeps Yanga out of next year`s African Champions League.

Yanga boycotted the third place playoff match against archrivals Simba in Dar es Salaam claiming they be paid 50m/- before the game.

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) which organised the championship also fined the mainland soccer champions $35,000 and banned them from taking part in the next three editions of its club championship.

I have been involved with sports in Tanzania as a Volleyball Coach for many years—and was a Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) leader. I studied sports management at Leipzig University in Germany and understand the science behind sports. That led me to work as a football pundit, with the BBC ( Swahili service) in London. That experience and exposure took me to covering the 2010, World Cup in South Africa. This provided me with a great insight into international level football commentary and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics.I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, France, Kenya etc, and visited almost all of the key football stadiums across United Kingdom, and Europe.
