Young African’s Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet has unveiled squad that would travel to Mbeya ahead of their premiership season opener against newly promoted Prisons FC Saturday.
The squad has 22 players and seven officials travel to Mbeya today to acclimatise with the weather before storming the Sokoine Stadium on Saturday.
The team has in the list goalkeeping duo of Yew Berko
and new sign up Alli Mustapha, defenders Shadrack Nsajigwa, Godfrey Taita, Juma
Abdul, Nadir Haroub, David Luhende, Oscar Joshua, Stephano Mwasika,
Kelvin Yondani and Mbuyu Twite.
Midfielders selected for the mission are Athumani Iddi, Haruna Niyonzima, Rashid Gumbo, Frank Damayo, Nizar Khalfani, Simon Msuva and Shamte Alli.
The striking force has Didier Kavumbagu, Hamisi Kiiza, Jerryson Tegete and Kagame Cup golden boot award winner Said Bahanuzi.
The Mbeya trip has left behind
Mohamed Said, Ladislaus Mbogo, Nurdin Bakari, Juma Seif and
Idrisa Rashid.
Saintfiet has led Yanga to successful Kagame Cup title retention bid and lost once in 14 appearances since taking over the team two months ago.
The only blemish in his record for Yanga was a devastating 2-0 Kagame Cup opening match defeat at the hands of Burundi’s Atletico Olympique.
Yanga dropped 21 points outside their base during last season as contrasted to 8 points at their backyard in Dar es Salaam including a five-goal demolition handed by their archrivals Simba.
The team looks to have a tight defence that has conceded
13 goals in 14
matches as strikers have notched 42 goals.
The team expects to train in Mbeya for two sessions from tomorrow morning before the Saturday showdown.
After Mbeya Yanga are lined up to another away match against equally competitive side of Mtibwa Sugar of Morogoro on Wednesday at Jamhuri Stadium.
