Defending champions Yanga whipped nine-man Simba 1-0 in a well attended Premier League match played at the Main National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Yanga, who had never defeated Simba in the last eight years, got the lone goal in the 15th minute when Kenyan striker Ben Mwalala used a Boniface Ambani move to beat goalie Amani Simba.
After the goal, Simba made massive attacks to equalize through Mussa Hassan `Mgosi` whose shots went wide in the 25th and 35th minutes.
Nico Nyagawa also missed in the 37th minute when he beat Yanga defenders to hit the ball across the bar.
Simba`s Haruna Moshi `Boban` was awarded a red card by referee Victor Mwandike in the 63rd minute for beating Mwalala.
Ten minutes later he also red carded Meshack Abel of Simba and Mwalala for trading blows in the pitch.
The referee failed to maintain the match as most of the time his decisions were contradicting.
Serbian goalie Obren Circovic was the man of the match as he saved a number of clear chances for his team.
Yanga have now extended the lead with 27 points while Simba remain in the fourth place with 13 points.
