The Tanzania Professional Boxing Organization is organising a festival that would feature several prominent East African boxers early next month.
The festival is sanctioned by TPBO that has already granted an official permit to the organisers to go ahead with the preparations.
Mbwana Matumla will lock horns with Kenyan boxer Abdul Noor in an eight- round super bantam weight bout.
His brother Rashid, who dominated boxing during his career, will battle another Kenyan Patrick Amote in super middle weight bout.
The Matumla family of boxers have vowed to excel during the October festival.
TPBO president Yassin Abdallah said the festival is expected to attract boxing stakeholders from all over East Africa.
The festival will also feature Black Mamba boxers based in Mtwara who are expected to step on the ring.
Preparations for the bouts are underway and the progress is encouraging. Boxers have already put pen to paper on their respective bouts as they have camped in preparations for the event.
Yassin said his TPBO has been pleased by several promoters who have flown in numbers to promote boxing.
The boxing official praised them valuing the game. TPBO has always and will forever curse boxers who shun professional norms.
“TPBO will never work with boxers who take advance payment from promoters and then are no show during the bouts,” he said.
