Tanzania picks nine for Commonwealth Games

Tanzania will send six athletes and three boxers to compete in the Commonwealth Games next month in India.
The event meant for under-17 athletes will be staged in India from October 8-18.

The Athletics Tanzania (AT) Secretary-General, Suleiman Nyambui, said yesterday that the games would be staged for the first time.

Nyambui said the runners would start residential training camp on September 14 at the University of Dar es Salaam.

“Three of them are currently in Singida finishing their school examinations, two in Arusha and one is at Saint Patrick Secondary School in Dar es Salaam.

We have already informed them to report in Dar es Salaam on September 13 ready for training,“ he said, adding that three boxers had already started off camp training in Dar es Salaam.
