Spanish cyclist donates sports gear

Spanish cyclist Joan Menendez yesterday donated two sets of jerseys and eleven foot balls to the Tanzania national soccer women team at the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) premises yesterday.

The donor presented the gears to the deputy Minister for Information, Culture and Sport, Fenela Mukangara, early in the morning.
Menendez, who used his bicycle to ride from Dar es Salaam to Moshi enroute to scale the Kilimanjaro Mountain, said he saw the ladies team during the eight edition of the African Nations Cup held in South Africa last year.
The soccer federation has appreciated the donation that has been received in time ahead of international assignments later this year.
There is no camping for Twiga Stars at the moment but the TFF spokesman Boniface Wambura said the sports gear will be reserved for the team.

For the last 20 years I have been working as a football pundit. This experience has provided me with a very useful insight into football and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics and I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany .....
