Simba hit JKT Ruvu

Simba`s Mussa Hassan Mgosi beats Damas Makwaya (down) and Shaibu Nayopa of JKT when the teams met in a Vodacom Premier League match in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Simba won 3-1.

League leaders Simba proved that they are a force to reckon with when they scored two quick goals during injury time to outclass JKT Ruvu 3-1 in a Vodacom Premier League match played at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

The two gals were scored by Musa Hassan Mgosi (who had earlier missed a penalty kick in the 71st minute) and Uhuru Selemani.

The team trained by Patrick Phiri, had earlier scored their first goal in the 27th minute through Joseph Owino who connected home a Mohamed Banka free-kick to beat national team goalie Shabaan Dihile before the armed forces side leveled in the 39th minute through a well taken penalty by Haruna Adolf.

I am happy that my boys have played well the way I instructed them. I hope they will do the same when we play Azam FC next,” Phiri said.

Simba who have not lost a single match apart from drawing twice, have 53 points while their archrivals Yanga follow them with 42 points.

Meanwhile, defending champions Yanga play third-placed Azam FC in another league match in the same ground this afternoon.
