PSV on course for Dutch title

PSV Eindhoven maintained their march towards a third successive Dutch Eredivisie crown with a 3-0 home win over FC Groningen on Saturday.Danny Koevermans struck a goal in each half with Otman Bakkal adding a strike in between to secure another victory for Sef Vergoosen’s side, and keep them seven points ahead of Ajax, who have a game in hand.

Roda JC’s midweek cup exertions apparently took their toll as a second-half collapse allowed hosts Heerenveen to stage a comeback from a two-goal deficit to net a 4-3 win.

Roland Lamah opened the scoring after 24 minutes before Yulu Matondo doubled Roda’s advantage three minutes later as they initially looked untroubled by playing their third game in six days.

Michael Bradley pulled one back after 34 minutes but Willem Janssen restored the visitors’ two-goal lead minutes later.

Half-time substitute Paulo Henrique reduced the deficit seconds after the break before Roy Beerens equalised and Bradley grabbed his second of the game just after the hour mark to complete Heerenveen’s comeback and a third consecutive win.

AZ Alkmaar failed to ease their relegation nerves as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to fellow strugglers De Graafschap.

Louis van Gaal’s team have found themselves anxiously looking over their shoulders following their poor recent run of form which has now extended to 12 games without a win while De Graafscap moved two points clear of danger.

Excelsior remain deep in relegation trouble after suffering a 2-0 home defeat against FC Utrecht – their fourth consecutive league reverse.

Gregoor van Dijk opened the scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute and Robin Nelisse wrapped up the win six minutes from time to leave the lowly Rotterdammers four points adrift of safety at the foot of the table.

On Friday night, Vitesse Arnham fought back from a two-goal deficit to claim a 3-3 draw at home to NAC Breda.

For the last 20 years I have been working as a football pundit. This experience has provided me with a very useful insight into football and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics and I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany .....
