Andre Villas-Boas (on Fernando Torres missing an open goal): “You have an example of Rooney missing a penalty too, which is basically the same. The worst things happen to the best strikers in the world and today it happened to both of them. If luck could play a better part for our side today, maybe. We had some very good chances to even the score or even to score first. The scoreline went crazy in the first half, but we had good opportunities to do something in this game.
Tottenham 4-0 Liverpool
Harry Redknapp: “I thought we played some fantastic football. We absolutely dominated. If you can’t enjoy the football we played here today then there’s something wrong with you. The first 25 minutes was football at its best. We were by far the better team. We should have been two or three goals in front in the first 25 minutes.”
Kenny Dalglish: “Luka Modric scores a great goal and it was the start of our downfall. Despite the other incidents, which are best unanswered, we will look at ourselves and what happened at the start of the game. We will stick to what we can dictate. We cannot dictate interpretation. We have a very good record for discipline. We will look at the video and if there is something wrong, we can correct it.”
Martin Jol: “We were a bit tired but you could say they were a bit tired as well. It was a fantastic achievement to come back against them. I am not sure if they will give away leads like this in the future. To come back from the death is what we probably did, but we scored and we had to believe.”
Roberto Mancini: “Because when you dominate a game like we did today, and you score only two goals, it’s a problem. For 10 or 15 minutes after Fulham scored, they played very well. But a football match is 95 minutes and a top team like us needs to have more control of the game. I’m not angry. I’m just disappointed because we conceded two stupid goals.”

Steve Bruce: “The mass hysteria that has engulfed us for the last two weeks after the defeat against Newcastle has surprised me. We finished 10th last season, but we lose against Newcastle and all hell breaks loose. We’ve picked up five points and these two weeks have been incredible by the media. Fans are fed by the media, but when they are writing this nonsense – one had me gone in 48 hours – some of the journalists have to look at themselves.”
Tony Pulis: “I make no excuses about the effects of travelling to Kiev. When you think of what happened in South Wales and the deaths of the miners – it is ridiculous to make travelling an excuse. We live in a bubble. My players earn more in a week than those men working underground do in a year and we need to burst that bubble to see what is happening in the outside world”.
