Although club doctors predicted a nine-month absence from the game, Eduardo said it was impossible to put a precise time frame on his recovery.
“I am walking on crutches but I am feeling well, there is no pain,” he told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.
“Some say the recovery will take half a year, some say I’ll be playing in nine months, others say fifteen months.”
The 25-year-old, who left hospital last week, said he would miss Croatia’s opening World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley in September .
“That would be too soon. Yes, I will play against England, but in the return game in September 2009.”
Eduardo suffered a fractured left fibula and an open dislocation of his ankle joint after a tackle by Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor.
The injury ruled him out of Croatia’s Euro 2008 campaign in Austria and Switzerland, which starts in June.
Eduardo said he did not think he would take the matter through the legal system.
Croatia national coach Slaven Bilic visited the striker at his home in England and said he left convinced the player would fully recvoer.
“After this evening, I am more convinced than ever that he will come back stronger than ever,” Bilic told Jutarnji List.
