Poulsen calls 22 for World Cup qualifier

Tanzania national soccer team coach Jan Poulsen

Tanzania national soccer team coach Jan Poulsen yesterday selected a provisional squad of 22 players for an ad hoc camping ahead of the 2014 World Cup preliminary qualifier game against Chad in ten days time.

The first leg match will be played in Djamena on November 11 as Azam’s youngest goalkeeper Mwadini Ali has won the call to join the team.
TP Mazembe’s duo of Thomas Ulimwengu and Mbwana Samata has also won the Stars’ call.
The full line up of players called by the Danish coach and their respective clubs in bracket include Simba’s first choice goalkeeper Juma Kaseja, Juma Nyoso, Juma Jabu and Shomari Kapombe.
Azam players in Poulsen’s line-up besides Mwadini include Aggrey Morris, Erasto Nyoni, Ramadhan Chombo and Mrisho Ngassa.
While Nurdin Bakari, Nadir Haroub and Godfrey Taita are Yanga trio in the team, Mtibwa Sugar has their duo Shabani Nditi and Hussein Javu.
Foreign based professionals and their respective teams in bracket are Idrissa Rajab (Sofapaka, Kenya), Abdi Kassim (DT Long An, Vietnam), Nizar Khalfan (Vancouver Whitecaps, Henry Joseph (Kongsvinger IL, Norway), Dan Mrwanda (DT Long An, Vietnam) and Athuman Machupa (Vasalund IF, Sweden).
Simba’s Kapombe makes his debut appearance for the Stars training thanks to his coach Moses Basena who has regularly fielded him during the premiership fixtures.
Juma Jabu is also making a comeback after long spells to fill the positions usually occupied by Yanga’s Stephano Mwasika and Simba’s Amir Maftah who are troubled with injuries.
The above named players are supposed to join the camp on Thursday, six days ahead of boarding a flight to Djamena.
The teams will play their second decisive leg in Dar es Salaam on November 15 in Dar es Salaam.

Stars have been bundled out of the African Nations Cup qualifiers whose finals will be played in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea early next year.
The Tanzania team has never played in the World Cup finals and this time they have an arduous task to qualify as they have Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire and Gambia to sail through, should they cross over the Chad hurdle next month.
Coach Poulsen needs a careful approach to mould a winning outfit for the soccer fans to extend more tolerance and support after Nations Cup qualifier bid fault.
