Olympic team to camp at Magomeni

The Olympic Games team will start camping in Dar es Salaam from July 28 to August 3, the Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) announced yesterday.

TOC Secretary-General Filbert Bayi said yesterday that the team would camp at the Travertine Hotel in Magomeni for two weeks before leaving for Beijing, China to compete in the games set to start from August 8-22.

“We have organised for them to camp at the Travertine Hotel in Magomeni,“ Bayi said, adding that two Olympic Games swimmers had already returned in Dar es Salaam from South Africa where they went for training ready for Dar es Salaam camp.

They are Khalid Shaka and Magdalena Alex Moshi.

Athletics team is currently camping in Arusha. Three athletes who will represent Tanzania in marathon are Musenduki Mohamed Ikoki, Samson Ramadhani Nyoni and Getuli Amnaay Bayo.

Others are Zakia Mrisho (5,000m), Samwel Kwang’w (10,000m), Dickson Marwa (10,000m), Samwel Mwera (800m) and Fabian Joseph (5,000m/10,000m).
