Mtibwa, Azam FC set to upset Yanga

Azam FC.

A win for either Mtibwa Sugar or Azam FC in today’s seventh round match at Manungu Stadium in Morogoro is likely to have an impact on Young African’s position in the league’s standings table.

Yanga will certainly be affected unless the match ends in any sort of draw to the two competing teams for the holders to be spared.

Title holders Yanga have been enjoying a second spot with 14 points in the standings since winning their seventh round math against Toto Africa at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on Wednesday.

With 12 points to their kitty, Mtibwa Sugar stand a chance to romp into second spot should they post a win over visiting Azam side from Dar es Salaam.

A win for Azam would also dislodge Yanga from the second spot courtesy of goal aggregates by the ice cream makers.

Azam have eleven points ahead of today’s game and superior goal aggregates over title holders provide them with psychological advantage only if they beat their hosts.

Former Mtibwa Sugar’s defensive lynchpin Salum Swedi will be the centre of attraction in today’s match as he will be all out to thwart attacks to serve his new side Azam FC.

Azam’s striking partners John Boko and Yahya Tumbo are also figures to note upfront as they intend to increase goal scoring tally to boost golden boot award.

A quest for Mtibwa Sugar to stay behind leaders Simba is another factor most likely to provide thrills in today’s match at the sugar plantation estates

The battle to disengage from the relegation pool will be between Manyema Rangers and Prisons FC from Mbeya in a match to be played at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

Prisons have managed to salvage only a point in their Eastern tour and are submerged into the relegation pool together with Toto Africa and Manyema Rangers.

The prison warders have won only one match so far and they have a strong urge to collect the three allotted points in today’s match before returning to their Sokoine Stadium base to host troubled Toto Africa next week.
