The Tanzania Street Children Sports Academy, (TSC) has received a 10m/- donation from MOIL Company to assist in travelling reservations to Germany for a three-week Under 19 international competition that kicks off in July.
The tournaments has been organised and partly sponsored by the German Football Federation and sports equipment manufacturers Adidas firm. All competing teams are supposed to cover 40 percent of their cost to stay in during the tournament.
MOIL director Arafat Hirani said his company felt honored to be associated with football development in the country.
Hirani made a call to other companies, individuals and organisations to help in development of football mainly clubs from upcountry areas, where he said there are a lot of promising talents deserving consideration.
He said his company will continue supporting football development programs. Hirani hopes that his company’s support will help to identify budding soccer talents from grassroots level into the national football grid.
“We pledge our continued support to football development and hope more players will be identified from the youth teams to play in the premiership and other leagues”, he said.
Responding to Hirani’s comments, the director of TSC Mutani Yangwe said he appreciates and values the donation to help his team.
He also made a call similar to Hirani’s for other companies, organisations and individuals to emulate a good example set by MOIL.
He said there are a lot of good players in regions who can feature in the premier league once given enough consideration and attention.
Yangwe also asked premier league teams to start recruiting players from upcountry areas.
He said there are a number of good players who have potentials to do well if given a chance, but he said in most cases they are discouraged through an oversight.
He named some of the players who were identified and nurtured by TSC and now feature for the national Under 20 team and other premier league clubs as Emily Mgeta, Carlos Protas and Frank Sekule.
According to him MOIL has been supporting TSC for many years, including a 20m/- injection during last year when the team competed at the World Cup for Street Children staged in South Africa and the Tanzania side emerged runners-up.
