Former Yanga Secretary-General Jamal Malinzi yesterday applied to challenge Leodegar Tenga in the presidential seat in the forthcoming Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) general election.
Malinzi is the third candidate to apply for the post. Rashid Lukumbula and Tenga picked the election forms last week.
Speaking shortly after picking the form, Malinzi said he had decided to contest because he had required qualities and he wanted to develop soccer standards in the country.
“I have been in the sports field for several years. I have enough experience to lead TFF. I hope this is now my time to serve for soccer fraternity in the country,“ Malinzi said.
TFF general election will be held on December 14 in Dar es Salaam.
Former Pan African, Yanga and Taifa Stars player Lawrence Mwalusako has applied for the first vice president seat.
Others who have applied for the election are Wallace Karia who is contesting for premier league clubs representative, Ismail Aden Rage and Athumani Kambi are contesting for executive committee members.
The deadline for picking and returning the forms will be on Friday.
The screening exercise of the candidates will be done on November 25.
The incumbent leaders were elected on December 27 in 2004.
