Mainland, Rwanda meet in tricky game

Mainland`s Kilimanjaro Stars play their third Senior Challenge Cup ,Group `A` match against Rwanda at the Nakivubo Stadium today.

The two tie on three points and each of them need to win the match to be in a better position of advancing.

The team trained by Brazilian Marcio Maximo lost 1-0 at the hands of Somalia before defeating Zanzibar 2-1 last Monday in the second game.

Rwanda`s Amavubi Stars were defeated 4-0 by hosts Uganda Cranes. Amavubi Stars hit Somalia 3-0 in their second game. Maximo predicted for a tough game as both sides would be fighting for the vital three points.

He hoped that his team would advance into the next round. “Our aim is to win the title. We will not joke in the remaining matches,“ Maximo said.

On his part, Rwanda assistant coach Raoul Shungu said despite the fact that his team was full of young players, he believed that they will outclass the Mainlanders.

“It is going to be a competitive game as every team will be out to showcase their skills and experience,“ Shungu added.

Uganda Cranes top the group, on a one-goal difference ahead of Zanzibar and just a point above Rwanda, Tanzania and Somalia.

Uganda, with four points now, must beat Somalia in their third game today to guarantee any hopes of qualification.
