Kilimanjaro Stars hit Burundi 3-2 to finish third in this year`s Senior Challenge Cup yesterday.
Mrisho Ngassa scored the first goal for Stars in the second minute when he overpowered Burundi defence to hit the ball past goalie Said Nduwimana in the match played at the Mandela Stadium.
The second goal was registered by Jerry Tegete in the 68th minute before Danny Mrwanda used Mrisho Ngassa`s cross to score the third in the 76th for Marcio Maximo`s side.
Abdallah Irambona scored for Burundi in the fifth minute through a penalty. Referee Issa Kagambo from Rwanda had awarded the penalty spot after Henry Joseph roughed Clause Nahimana.
Jaffar Jumapili converted home a Claude Nahimana corner kick to register the second.
The win earned Stars a 10,000 dollars (above 11m/-) prize donated by GTV.
Hosts Uganda Cranes were expected to play Harambee Stars in the final match last night.
Winners of the championship were expected to receive US$30,000 (about 40m/-) while runners-up US$20,000 (above 21m/-).
