Katibu Mkuu BFT afariki Dunia

ALIYEKUWA Katibu Mkuu wa Shirikisho la Ngumi za ridhaa Tanzania, BFT, Gaston Mlay amefariki dunia juzi saa 5 usiku jijini Dar es Salaam kwa shindikizo la damu.

Akizungumza na Mwananchi jana, Mwenyekiti wa BFT, Shaaban Mintanga alisema Mlay alifariki nyumbani kwake kwa presha. Hata hivyo hakutoa maelezo zaidi.

Mintanga alisema kuwa kifo cha katibu huyo ni pingo kwa familia ya ngumi Tanzania pamoja na wananchi kwa ujumla.

Alisema marehemu alikuwa ni kiungo muhimu katika uongozi kutokana na nafasi yake ya uongozi huo.

” Katibu Mkuu ni nafasi moja muhimu katika uongozi yeye kama Mlay alikuwa ni mchapakazi mzuri na mwenye kujituma katika kazi pengo lake alitaweza kuzibika” alisema Mintanga.

” Kifo hicho kimewastua sana na kwa vile kimekuwa kifo cha ghafla kwelikweli hata huwezi kuuliza kama wapi kuna nini na kipi, alisema.

Marehemu alizaliwa mwaka 1963 na kupata elimu katika shule na vyuo mbalimbali. Ameacha mke na watoto wawili na shughuli za mazishi zinafanyika nyumbani kwake Magomeni, Dar es Salaam.

Marehemu aliyewahi kuwa bondia, aliingia madaraka kwa nafasi ya Katibu mkuu Januari 2007. Mazishi yake yatafanyika keshokutwa katika makaburi ya Kinondoni Jijini Dar es Salaam.

BFT boss Mlay dead

The Tanzania Boxing Federation (BFT) Secretary-General, Gaston Mlay (46), has died.

BFT president Shaaban Mintanga said yesterday that Mlay died of diabetes on Saturday night when he was on the way to Hindu Mandal Hospital in Dar es Salaam for treatment.

He said burial arrangements were being made at his residence at Magomeni Kagera in Dar es Salaam. The burial would be held on Wednesday at Kinondoni Cemetery.

Mlay was elected Secretary-General on January 6, 2007 when the body was changed from Tanzania Amateur Boxing Association (Taba) to BFT.

Mintanga said the late Mlay was one of the boxers who played for the national team between 1982 and 1991 when he was still a student of the Buluba Secondary School in Shinyanga.

He said after finishing secondary school education, Mlay studied administration, coaching courses for wrestling and boxing.

The deceased has left behind a widow and two children. May the Almighty God Rest his Soul in Eternal Life. AMEN.
