Janeth finishes fifth in 10,000m

 

Tanzanians Janeth John and Sarah Ramadhani finished fifth and sixth respectively in the African Athletics Championships` 10,000m here over the weekend.

The two were among four Tanzanians who turned up for the continental championships.

Janeth clocked 35:32.60 while Sarah used 36:06.03 in the race which was dominated by hosts Ethiopians.

Janeth said after the race that she was very happy with the result because that was not her race.

“I decided to run in 10,000m after failing to catch up with 5,000m which was my race,“ she said.

Tanzania contingent missed some of the races after arriving late.

The runner accused Athletics Tanzania (AT) for her poor performance.

“I should have performed well if AT could have taken us here earlier enough to catch up with the races which we registered for,“ she added.

Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba won the race after running for 32:49.08 followed by her country-mates Ejegayehu Dibaba (32:50.36) and Ayalew Wude (32:55.17).
