ITV to host TFF aspirants` debate on December 9

The Tanzania Sports Writers Association (Taswa) and Independent Television (ITV) have jointly organised a debate for aspirants of top positions in the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).

Taswa Chairman Boniface Wambura said yesterday that the debate would be aired live on ITV from Dar es Salaam beginning 9.15pm on December 9.

He said the occasion would be attended by those contesting the presidential and first and second vice presidential seats.

The presidential seat has attracted incumbent Leodegar Tenga and Jamal Malinzi, while those aspiring for the first vice presidency are Lawrence Mwalusako, Athumani Nyamlani, Michael Wambura and Ali Hassan Mwanakatwe.

Lucas Kisasa, Damas Ndumbaro, Ramadhan Nasibu and Godfrey Nyange Kaburu are, meanwhile, vying for the second vice presidency.

The Taswa official said a panel of sports writers would ask the contestants “challenging questions“ at ITV`s Mikocheni-based studios.

“The aspirants are expected to use the opportunity to tell the public what they plan to do if they win the election, set for December 14 in the city,“ he explained.

“We have chosen to stage the debate on December 9 because it will be our country`s Independence Day and, therefore, a public holiday when most families will be at their respective homes, many watching television,“ he added said.

ITV representative Deogratius Rweyunga, who is also Radio One Deputy Channel Director, said viewers would also be given chance to ask questions and make comments by telephone.

Other aspirants include, those seeking election as club representatives: Wallace Karia, Abdul Sauko and Mohamed Nassor.

An even larger pack want to run for TFF executive committee membership and include Eliud Mvella, Shaibu Nnampunde, Amir Roshan, John Kiteve, Samwel Nyalla, Ismail Rage, Joseph Mapunda, Richard Rukambura, Lameck Nyambaya, Nassoro Kipenzi and Mbasha Matuta.

Others are Teofrid Sikazwe, Charles Mgondo, Titus Bandawe, Athuman Kambi, Martaza Mangungu, Vicent Oswald, Muhsin Balhabou, and Halidi Mohamed.

Also expected to be in the race are Tumaini Kagina, Festo Mkemwa, John Mwangakala, Ahmed Mgoyi, Rommel Hans Poppe, Hassan Athuman, Juma Namkoreka, Omar Abdulkadir, Charles Mchau, Gastory Lugali, Malamu Eric, Israel Moses and Hussen Zuberi.
