Gumbo, Mrwanda `settle scores`

Danny Mrwanda

Simba Sports Club’s vice-chairman Omar Gumbo and team striker Danny Mrwanda are alleged to have exchanged blows enroute to Songea, where the team heads to honour their Mainland premiership soccer opener against newly promoted side Majimaji on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Morogoro as the duo developed a huge rift with verbal exchanges that eventually resulted into the alleged fight.

Gumbo, who was the head of the Simba delegation, had to be offloaded from the bus as the team progressed to their premiership match destination.

Gumbo is alleged to have a poor relationship with most of the players of the team, a reason for him to be offloaded for peace and tranquility to prevail in the squad.

Gumbo also disregarded the club’s 73rd anniversary held at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam last week.

The club’s supporting group in the name of Friends of Simba has a close link with the players whom Gumbo is alleged to have a big rift.

“It’s very true that Gumbo and Mrwanda are alleged to have staged a fight between them in Morogoro,” said one of Simba officials who pleaded for anonymity.

However, another contrasting report had it that Gumbo was returning to Dar es Salaam to attend a session of Tanzania Football Federation’s disciplinary committee. Gumbo is a committee member.

The report details that Gumbo’s u-turn has been necessitated in an effort to resolve Uhuru Suleiman’s double registration infringement.

Suleimani has also signed for Morogoro-based Mtibwa Sugar for the premiership season that kicks off on Sunday

The TFF disciplinary committee session would discus among other issues, Suleimani’s registration controversy.
