In his playing days he was an FA cup winner and UEFA cup runner up and made his England debut against Scotland in a 5-0 win at Hampden Park a game that will remain in history as it marked 100 England caps for West Ham team mate Bobby Moore before moving into management with teams like Leighton Orient, Charlton and Peterborough (where until July 2007 he worked with Darren Ferguson son of the “Great Sir Alex” of Manchester United).
He has played against all the Legends, Eusebio da Silva Ferreira, the “Black Panther” of Portugal, Bob Wilson and David O’ Leary from Arsenal, Ray Wilkins and Clive Walker from Chelsea, Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish from Liverpool, from Manchester United Sir Bobby Charlton and the Greatest of them all George Best.
In Tanzania to cast a professional eye over the TSA (Tanzania Soccer Academy) and working with the academy staff the purpose of the visit is to produce a strategic plan so the TSA can achieve its goals of producing players that are good enough to play in Europe and represent Tanzania, playing their part in Tanzania hopefully qualifying for the World Cup 2014. As Well as working with the staff Tommy will coach the players providing them with a unique opportunity to learn new aspects of the “beautiful game”, as well as an incite into life as a professional player and what it takes to be a top flight European footballer.
Tommy is here until Sunday coaching the TSA players and would welcome you to training sessions to get a behind the scenes look at what life is really like at a top flight European academy, the standards a player needs to reach to make it in football and his valuation on how our players compare. Find out if he believes any of them could win a place at a European academy and ask the players how they are finding the coaching.
He is also available to have a “one on one” interview either in person or over the phone. A unique opportunity to ask a legend what its like to win the FA cup, to lose a European Final or to play against the “Great” George Best and what he thinks of Tanzania.
To arrange an interview call Coach Jason Barry on 0788104993
nice 1 jason had alook at site good job
Have followed Tommy’s career with interest, since his days at Hylands School, where he was a year above me and a school hero, having captained England School Boys and played for Orient at the age of 15, surely some kind of league record. Think he did a good job at Boston under very difficult circumstances. They were too quick to release him and they have really struggled since his departure. Hope he soon gets back into management in this country
