Dar to host netball event

CHANETA assistant secretary general, Rose Mkisi.

Tanzania is to host an international netball championship in Dar es Salaam later in July, the CHANETA assistant secretary general, Rose Mkisi, confirmed yesterday.

Mkisi said the tourney will be sanctioned by International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA).

She said invitations have been extended to various countries across the world for the tourney that would count for world rankings as well.

She remained optimistic that a positive response is expected the way it happened last year.

The national team is currently in the United Kingdom for international friendly games gearing up for the show.

However, the friendlies currently played in UK do not fall into IFNA dates and therefore the results would not count for the global rankings.

CHANETA staged a tournament of similar magnitude last year but the organizers were criticized by their Zanzibar counterparts for poor co-operation.

However, after recent agreement that saw the two sides sharing the same plate, the national team would bear the Union outlook.
