Al Ahly eliminates Young Africans

Egypt`s Al Ahly scored an early goal to eliminate Yanga from the African Champions League in a second round, return leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Flavio Amado registered the goal in the fourth minute when he beat the Yanga defence to cast a cloud of gloom over fans who thronged the 60,000-seater-ultra-modern stadium.

The Angolan striker also scored one of three goals for his team got in the first leg match in Egypt two weeks ago. The lone goal disoriented the home side, taking it some 20 minutes to recover from the shock and regain relative composure.

They subsequently made a number of spirited trials through players Mrisho Ngasa, Shadrack Nsajigwa and Moses Ambani, to mention but a few.

The defending champions have advanced with a 4-0 goals aggregate.

Egyptian Mohamed Barakat doubled in the match played in Cairo Stadium. The north African club will play winners of the match between Nigerian champions Kano Pillars and Elect Sport of Chad in the third round.
