14 Athletes for Scotland cross-country

Fourteen athletes are expected to leave for Edinburgh, Scotland later this month to participate in a cross-country track slated for March 30, this year.

Athletics Tanzania (AT) Secretary General, Suleiman Nyambui said over the weekend that the event would involve 50 countries and that Tanzania would be represented by 14 athletes, six of whom are women.

“The competition is in the International Athletics Federation calendar and we are sending 14 athletes who will be leaving on March 28“, Nyambui said.

He named the athletes as Yohana Joseph, Damian Chopa, Ezekiel Jaffary, Samwel Kwaang`w, Faustine Mussa, Marco Joseph, Dickson Marwa and Fabian Joseph.

Women athletes selected for the international event are Fabiola William, Sarah Ramadhani, Natalia Elisante, Zaituni Jumanne, Frida Makuli and Janeth John.

He said all the athletes were picked by the AT`s technical committee during the Kilimanjaro marathon held in Moshi recently.

Some of the athletes would use the competition as an evaluation and training for the August 2008 Beijing Olympic games.
