VODACOM Tanzania will sponsor the Tanzanian leg of the 2008 International Tennis Federation, ITF/ Confederation of African Tennis, CAT, East African Prize Money Circuit to the tune of more than Tsh: 7 million.
According to the Vodacom Tanzania Sponsorship Manager, Emillian Rwejuna, the tournament was to take place from Thursday and ends tomorrow at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.
He said that the prize money circuit was played in Ethiopia from May 15-18 and in Kenya from May 22-25, respectively.
“The tournament will feature the following categories; Men`s Single and Doubles, Ladies Single and Doubles as well as Veterans` Single and Mixed Double,“ he said
Rwejuna said that the winner of the Men`s Single Category will receive USD 800 while the winner of the Ladies` Single will receive USD 600.
The winner of Veterans Singles and Mixed Double will be awarded good trophies.
Rwejuna said that Vodacom Tanzania would continue investing in sports as it has been doing since its inception.
He said Vodacom believes that such investment would enable the country create more youth talents a move that would bring respect of our nation in international sport arenas.
On his side the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture and Sports, Joel Bendera, commended Vodacom Tanzania for its initiative of developing sports in the country.
He called upon other companies to emulate from Vodacom Tanzania for the interest of our nation.
