Women soccer team Twiga Stars.

The national women soccer team board Addis Ababa-bound flight today where they are expected to play against their hosts in the first leg of African Nations Cup qualifier tie on Saturday.

The chairperson of Tanzania Women Football Association (TWFA), Lina-Madina Mhando said the team comprising 19 players and five officials is upbeat to win the match.

The return leg tie is expected to be played in Dar es Salaam in a fortnight.

Special seat Member of Parliament for (CCM Janet Masaburi urged the players to fight for victory in her address during the flagging off ceremony in Dar es salaam yesterday.

She urged the players to maintain discipline while calling for soccer stakeholders to support the team in their preparations for the return leg tie.

The team’s captain Sophia Mwasikili said her players are well prepared to beat the host side.

Players expected to fly today are Fatuma Mustapha, Fatuma Omary, Mwasikili, Esther Chabruma, Mary Masatu, Eto Mlezi, Helena Peter, Fridiana Daudi, Fadhila Hamadi, Maimuna Saidi and Fatuma Bushiri.

Others are Fatuma Khatibu, Mwanahamisi Omary, Asha Rashid, Zena Khamisi, Mwanaidi Tamba, Pulkeria Chalaji, Mwajuma Abdallah and Neema Kuga.

Winner of the two legs will play against Eritrea who advanced to the next round after Kenya opted to pull out of the qualifiers.
