A new wave of trouble is steadily growing at the Young Africans Football Club as a portion of its members intend to convene an ad hoc meeting on Thursday.
The club’s branches chairman, Mohammed Msumi, said the meeting would discuss, among others, the appointment of new trustee Abbas Mtemvu.
Another hottest agenda involves to curb the growing wave of frequent bickering between the club’s chairman Lloyd Nchunga and his assistant Davies Mosha.
Msumi confirmed that the preparations for the Thursday meeting are on track as invitation letters have been dispatched to all members throughout the country.
The head of the branches chairman also said a letter to seek security during the meeting has also been dispatched to the Msimbazi Police Station ahead of the meeting expected to start at 16:00 hours.
Msumi urged members to turn up in numbers early in the morning so as to scrutinize their validity and facilitate smooth running of the meeting.
However, some members have strongly opposed the convening of the meeting as they claim not to recognize Msumi.
A member who pleaded anonymity admitted the fact that there is a big rift within the club but the meeting has been called by a leader whose tenure has lapsed.
Yanga’s top brass that include Nchunga and his secretary general Lawrence Mwalusako were not available yesterday to comment on the existence of the meeting.
The club’s spokesman, Louis Sendeu, who was not in office while attending family affairs, said he is not aware of the meeting.
Since voted into power mid last year, Yanga’s chairman and his assistant have not been on level terms with the rift between the two officials steadily widening.
The tide of Yanga troubles is gaining tempo barely few days ahead of the kick off of the second half of the Mainland premier soccer league.
Yanga, who lost the premiership title to rivals Simba last year, are trailing the holders by two points after eleven appearances.
The team remains the only one out of twelve competing in the top flight league to maintain unbeaten run.
Yanga’s next opponents in the 12th round match are visiting Mtibwa Sugar who drew 1-1 during the first lag played in Morgoro last year.
The match is scheduled for February 2.
