Three training for Mauritius tourney

Three national amateur boxers have started an eight days residential camp at Ndege Beach Hotel in Dar es Salaam on Monday.

The boxers will use the residential camp for preparations of the forthcoming African amateur boxing tournament scheduled to be held in Mauritius from June 13 -16.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, national boxing coach Nassoro Michael mentioned the boxers as Emilian Patrick, Petro Mtagwa and Ally Kimwaga.

He further added that Patrick is also preparing for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

“We are so pleased to have this residential camp because it will help these boxers to prepare well for those tournaments,“ Nassoro explained.

He also said that apart from preparing those boxers for the African Championship, the tourney will also help Patrick to prepare for the Games to be held in Beijing, China from August 8 to 22.

The team is expected to depart for Mauritius on Tuesday, June 10.

I have been involved with sports in Tanzania as a Volleyball Coach for many years—and was a Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) leader. I studied sports management at Leipzig University in Germany and understand the science behind sports. That led me to work as a football pundit, with the BBC ( Swahili service) in London. That experience and exposure took me to covering the 2010, World Cup in South Africa. This provided me with a great insight into international level football commentary and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics.I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, France, Kenya etc, and visited almost all of the key football stadiums across United Kingdom, and Europe.
