Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) yesterday unveiled criteria and required qualifications for those football coaches wishing to apply for the vacant post to be left by the current Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo.
TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela said the new coach to win the post must sign a two year contract and be responsible to train Mainland (Kilimanjaro Stars) and the Tanzania (Taifa Stars) soccer teams.
The coach should have a minimum of secondary education level, advanced football coaching certificate from a recognised institution plus international training licence.
“He must be above 30 years old and experience of coaching in the soccer developing countries as an added advantage,” said Mwakalebela.
“He should also have a record of coaching high level clubs for five years, national teams being another added advantage.”
Remarkable discipline, computer literacy, ability to lead the technical bench, resolve internal conflicts within the team and skills of modern soccer tactics are additional qualifications needed for the post.
The new coach will be responsible to TFF secretariat and when needed, he will be summoned to attend meetings of the federation’s technical committee.
“The new coach will also be responsible to select players, train them and prepare personal player’s report on disciplinary matters,” said Mwakalebela.
He will also run coaching trainings and working close to coaches of premier league and first division clubs, so says Mwakalebela.
The submission deadline for all applications that should be sent to the TFF office via mail box or E mail is set for February 28.
Without mentioning them, Mwakalebela said coaches who have applied before yesterday’s announcement, are required to submit fresh applications.
“We have informed them about this official application,” added Mwakalebela.
Maximo has been at the helm of the Tanzania national soccer team coaching since 2006 for two years contract that was extended by a year before he was awarded an additional year.
Without silverware collection in his four years of training the team, Maximo has been ruled out of additional contractual extension.
Participation in the inaugural CHAN championship staged in Cote d’Ivoire last year was Maximo’s remarkable achievement.
Otherwise, the coach failed to lead Stars into African Nations/World Cup qualifiers, beside lackluster show in the East and Central African Challenge Cup championships three times in a row.
