Simba have continued to maintain wining streak in the Mainland premier soccer league after defeating hosts Coastal Union by a lone goal in the second round match played at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga yesterday.
It was their Rwandan midfielder Patrick Mafisango who silenced the home crowd after 22 minutes when he connected home Said Nasoro’s through pass.
The victory has taken the former champions to haul six points without conceding a goal.
Coastal Union played an impressive soccer and showed no signs as new comers into the premiership berth.
Simba maintained a string of attacks upfront as they won hearts of some of the spectators who filled the stadium.
The victory has placed Simba at the top of the standings table with maximum points as they wait for the third round match against Villa Squad at the National Stadium in
Dar es Salaam on September 7.
Yanga took the lead after 68 minutes through Haruna Niyonzima as Jerome Lembere pulled an equaliser by substitute Jerome Jambere three minutes to time.
Yanga have so far dropped a total of five points in two matches to trail by the same margin of points with joint leaders Toto Africa and Simba.
Coach Sam Timbe is under pressure by fans and spectators alike as the
East and Central Africa soccer kings have been performing below par after two games to keep the coach’s credibility at stake.
Arusha:Premiership new arrivals Oljoro JKT posted their first victory as they shocked visiting
Mtibwa Sugar with a third minute goal that lasted for the rest of the duration.
Mtibwa who ended their opening match by 1-1 draw with Coastal Union in Tanga last weekend, would not find the breakthrough as the host side maintained a superb soccer to thwart their onslaughts.
Mwanza:
Hosts Toto Africa maintained their home record for the opening season after beating Ruvu Shooting by a lone goal through Emma Swita’s penalty 18 minutes into the second half.
Bukoba:Kagera Sugar were held to 1-1 draw with Villa Squad at the Kaitaba Stadium in Bukoba in a match the referee was highly blamed for indecisiveness.
Dodoma:
Hosts Police Dodoma were held to 2-2 draw by JKT Ruvu in another premiership action.
The premiership action continues next weekend. During the first second round match played at the Chamzi Stadium on Tuesday, Azam were beaten1-0 by
African Lyon.
