President Jakaya Kikwete said its time sports ministry and related stakeholders appoint competent personnel who have interest of the game for coaching purposes.

The President who was inaugurating the Parliament in Dodoma yesterday, said the people entrusted to aspire for coaching jobs must have interest in the respective sport.

Appointing people to undergo training for the courses without assessing their interest and competence in the game is a suicidal to development of sports, so says the President.

He also said there is a big upsurge in the entertainment industry with more domestic artistes producing compositions that hit the global market.

However, he deplored those who take advantage through piracy to swindle the sweats of those who produced the music products.

He was hitting hard on the protection policy particularly copyrights to save the jobs of the artistes who presently earn a little of their sweats despite working hard.

“We must reach a point where these artistes earn their bread as the only option for them to make sustainable living”, he said.

I have been involved with sports in Tanzania as a Volleyball Coach for many years—and was a Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) leader. I studied sports management at Leipzig University in Germany and understand the science behind sports. That led me to work as a football pundit, with the BBC ( Swahili service) in London. That experience and exposure took me to covering the 2010, World Cup in South Africa. This provided me with a great insight into international level football commentary and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics.I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, France, Kenya etc, and visited almost all of the key football stadiums across United Kingdom, and Europe.
