Five athletes who have qualified for the Olympic Games will start returning to the country on May 6 ready to start residential training camp for the games to be held in Beijing, China in August.
Athlete Tanzania (AT) Assistant Secretary-General Julius Msomi said yesterday that the five runners who had been competing in various games abroad would go straight to Arusha where the camp was.
They are Msenduki Mohamed, Getuli Bayo, Samson Ramadhani, Michael Tulway and Dickson Marwa.
Msomi said that another Olympic Games athlete Fabian Joseph was already in the camp training with athletes preparing for the Africa Championship.
Fabian and other 12 athletes would leave for Ethiopia today to compete in the event set for Wednesday in Addis Ababa.
They are Ezekiel Japhary, Hamis Mkadamu, Muhdin Yassin, Marko Joseph, Kulwa Rushenga, Anold Longung’a, and Faustine Mussa.
Others are Makame Ally, Natalia Joseph, Damian Chopa, Sara Ramadhani, Janeth John and Fabiola William.
Boxer Emmilian Patrick and two swimmers have also qualified for the Beijing Games.
