Mkuchika appointed new sports minister

President Jakaya Kikwete appointed George Huruma Mkuchika Minister for Information, Culture and Sports when he announced his new cabinet in dodoma yesterday.

Mkuchika, a Newala Constituency Member of Parliament, replaces Muhammed Seif Khatib who had been heading the ministry for the last two years.

Khatib was appointed the Minister of State, Vice President`s Office-Union Affairs.

Joel Bendera retained his post as the deputy minister for Information, Culture and Sports while Daniel Nsanzugwanko who was also the deputy in the ministry, was not assigned any duty.

Mukuchika is also deputy secretary-general of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)
