Maximo satisfied with players` training

Taifa Stars chief coach Marcio Maximo has expressed his optimism over his team`s performance in future tournaments.

The coach made the remarks yesterday at the opening ceremony of a three-day training camp at Bulyanhulu mine in Kahama district Shinyanga region where the team will stay till Monday.

He told The Guardian on Sunday after the morning training session that, his major work now was to set strategy and carry out training in team work, physical ability and skills.

Maximo described his players as talented but lacking physical strength. “So this is a challenge for the football clubs and players to think of setting up gyms for the players instead of waiting until they join Taifa Stars,“ he advised.

He said 18 players had already reported for training while Shaaban Nditi, Uhuru Selemani and Salum Swed from Mtibwa who are with their club in Kagera will join camp on Monday.

“Henry Joseph is injured and will not join us, but Nadir Haroub `Canavaro` whose wife passed away last week will join us on Monday too,“ he said.

Players who are at the camp include, Farouk Ramadhan, Ivo Mapunda and Amani Simba who are goalkeepers, defenders are, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Juma Jabu, Fredy Mbuna, Nurdin Bakari, Meshack Abel and Kelvin Yondani.

Others are Midfielders Godffrey Bonny, Nizar Khalfan, Jabir, Athumani Idd and Jerry Tegete, Mrisho Ngasa, Adam Kingwande, Mussa Hassan Mgosi and Kigi Makasi all strikers.
