KARATU SPORTS FESTIVAL

Dickson Marwa of Holili Club showed his prowess in the 10km run on the week end by winning this year’s Karatu Sports Festival held in Karatu Arusha.

The race involved over 70 runners from various clubs nationwide fought vigorously for top honours.

Dickson Marwa took only 27.26.42 minutes to clinch tophonours in this year’s race.

Patrick Nyangale also from Holili club took the second spot with 27.42.52 followed by Joseph Amant of Guwangw Karatu with 28.00.06.

In the the ladies 5km Mary Naali showed her prowess by winning the race in 16.43.23.

She was followed by Zaituni Jumanne of Winning Sprit Arusha and Zakia Abdalah of Singida.

Both took 18.03.54 and 18. 04.29 respectivelly.

In the Cycling Richard Laizer proved his supremacy in the cycling locally by winning the 60 km in 1.37.51. Laizer was followed by Said Jumanne also from Arusha club in 1.41. 18 .

Last year’s winner Lucas Fabian from Magugu took third position with 1.41.19 to the dismay of his fans.

Lutheran Church volleyball  club from Mbulu  clinched the trophy for the second consecutive year after beating their arch rivals Karatu volleyball team by 3sets to two using over three hours.

Gibbs Farm volleyball club from Karatu took took the third position while Arusha Police FFU closed the curtain.

Volleyball has been included in the festival for the second year now.

The Karatu Disatrict Commissioner David Kijiko presented the trophies to the winners in a colourful ceremony at the Karatu Municipal gardens.
