This year`s East and Central Africa Senior Challenge will be staged in Kampala, Uganda, from November 8-23.
The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Secretary-General, Nicholaus Musonye, said over the weekend that the regional body had invited four to compete in the tourney as guests.
They are Democratic Republic of Congo, Saudi Arabia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
“We have decided to invite them to make the championship more competitive and attractive,“ Musonye said, adding that the fo
ur had already confirmed their participation.
In another development, Musonye said the fixtures of the Kagame Cup will be drawn in Dar es Salaam today.
The event to be held in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro from July 12 to 27, will attract 12 teams.
The teams have already been divided into three groups.
Group `A` has Simba (Tanzania), Tusker (Kenya), Vitalo (Burundi) and Benadir (Somalia) while URA (Uganda), Rayon (Rwanda), Denden (Eritrea) and SID (Djibouti) are in Group `B`.
Group `C` has defending champions APR (Rwanda), Yanga (Tanzania), Awassa (Ethiopia) and Miembeni (Zanzibar).
Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame are sponsors of the championship. Paul Kagame will use 60,000 USD (about 60m/-) to sponsor the event.
