The Council of East and central African Football Associations, CECAFA is at cross roads to release the Kagame cup fixture before knowing the fate of Mainland champions Simba and Rwanda’s APR who are still in CAF Champions League.
CECAFA’s secretary General Nicholas Musonye said through a telephone that his body can not release the tournament fixture while Simba and the Rwanda champions are still in contention.
Until the teams play their return legs against their opponents in the champion’s league, then CECAFA would be in a position to release the fixture.
Musonye said the Kagame Cup fixture must take into consideration the CAF champion’s league so as to avoid match dates interference.
APR have a date with Tunisia’s Club Africain while Simba have TP Mazembe as their nest opponents in matches to be played later this month.
Zanzibar is the host of the Kagame Cup scheduled for May.
Other teams lined up for the championship include Kenya’s Ulinzi,
Al Hilal of Sudan, Burundi’s Vital’O and debutant Zanzibar Ocean View.
APR are the reigning Kagame Cup holders.
