Cameroon national football team (Indomitable Lions) arrived yesterday ready for their 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup Group One qualifying match against Tanzania national football team (Taifa Stars) on Saturday at the new National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Cameroon skipper Rigobert Song said that his team have come to Tanzania in order to win and entertain soccer fans in the country in their match against Stars.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam soon after arriving, Song said that all Cameroon players have been well prepared to play good football in order to win the match and be in a position that will enable them to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Nations Cup.
Song added that though they don’t know much about the ability of the Taifa Stars but they do respect them.
“We have come to show Tanzanians good football, but we respect Taifa Stars because every country works hard so as to win and be able to qualify for the 2010 Word Cup and Africa Nations Cup,“ Song added.
Cameroon Coach Otto Pfister refused to talk with the media at the Mwalimu Nyerere International Airport.
Likewise the famous Cameroon and FC Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o also refused to talk with the media, claiming that he was not a team spokesperson. However, he waved at the few fans who were near their bus.
Cameroon lead the group after defeating Cape Verde 2-0 and Mauritius 3-0 in their first two matches.
