Mikel Arteta scored and was sent off as Premier League leaders Arsenal ground out a 2-0 win at managerless Crystal Palace.
Arteta put the Gunners ahead from the spot early in the second half after Adlene Guedioura’s reckless tackle on substitute Serge Gnabry.
But he was dismissed 20 minutes later after referee Chris Foy deemed his foul on Marouane Chamakh had denied the former Arsenal striker a goal-scoring opportunity.
Palace threw everything at the Gunners but were denied by a string of fantastic saves from Wojciech Szczesny. And with time running out Arsenal finished the Eagles off as Aaron Ramsey picked out Olivier Giroud, who buried his header to seal the three points.
