Arsenal FA Cup Winners Parade 2014

It was a very good atmosphere today at The Emirates for the FA Cup parade. I went there this morning and it was a great crowd, young, old, the disabled including two people released specially from hospital for a few hours to witness it with their oxygen masks.

This shows how passionate people are about their club. All the roads around the Stadium from Hornsey Road to Holloway Road was covered in the red colours.

This is my first time to witness a parade in this country of my club. It was well organised and policed. The most remarkable moment was when the fans sang “Please Don’t Go” to Bacary Sagna, for him not to leave the club. He acknowledged it by bringing his wife and children onto the podium. It looked like it was a goodbye.

Arsene Wenger thanked the fans for being patient for all these nine years without a trophy and promised this is the start of things to come. For a man coming all the way from Dodoma to North London I feel privileged to have been there and witnessed such a well planned and coordinated event.

The Arsenal fans have been waiting a long time for this moment and they deserve every moment of enjoyment.

For the last 20 years I have been working as a football pundit. This experience has provided me with a very useful insight into football and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics and I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany .....
