SPORTS AND ENVIRONMENT WAYS TOWARDS ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS

Today in many countries sports and environment is understood as a highly important subject .
Scientists deal with this issue as well as authorities, sports associations and conversation groups.
Since 1992 Rio Conference life styles are on the agenda for the environment debate.
Sports represents a significant part of our different life styles and thus automatically becomes a subject of discussion.
Many sports associations have built up professional and voluntary structures and include environment issues in their public relations.
The IOC in close cooperation with UNEP hosted World Conference on sports and environment. It was on this meeting whereby the IOC President Samaranch expressed that the IOC is resolved to ensure that environment becomes the third dimension of the organization of Olympic Games.
The first and second dimensions being Sports and Culture.
Today we have seen many of our sports organizations vie for artificial turf after disintegration of greens in most of our playing fields.
IOC on the other hand has seen this as a problem in the future of not our sports only but also the nature of our mother earth.
We have seen most of the open areas been cleared to pave way for development projects forgetting environmental issues and its repercussions to the next generations.
Zanzibar for example have been on construction of Palm trees thatched beach resorts taking not into consideration of the sustainability of Palm trees in the island of Zanzibar. The high influx of tourists earns millions of forex to Zanzibar coffers but also has high impact on water plastic bottles which makes some of the marine species disappear.
Disappearance of new Palm trees means the end of energy source and coconut juice in the very near future for the common Zanzibari.
Green Golf courses are now diminishing on the World of Sports paving way to artificial ones.
Sports and Environment should be a subject compulsory to each and everyone in the sports arena for the sustainability development of sports.

For the last 20 years I have been working as a football pundit. This experience has provided me with a very useful insight into football and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics and I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany .....
