Al Ahly eliminates Young Africans

Egypt`s Al Ahly scored an early goal to eliminate Yanga from the African Champions League in a second round, return leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Flavio Amado registered the goal in the fourth minute when he beat the Yanga defence to cast a cloud of gloom over fans who thronged the 60,000-seater-ultra-modern stadium.

The Angolan striker also scored one of three goals for his team got in the first leg match in Egypt two weeks ago. The lone goal disoriented the home side, taking it some 20 minutes to recover from the shock and regain relative composure.

They subsequently made a number of spirited trials through players Mrisho Ngasa, Shadrack Nsajigwa and Moses Ambani, to mention but a few.

The defending champions have advanced with a 4-0 goals aggregate.

Egyptian Mohamed Barakat doubled in the match played in Cairo Stadium. The north African club will play winners of the match between Nigerian champions Kano Pillars and Elect Sport of Chad in the third round.

I have been involved with sports in Tanzania as a Volleyball Coach for many years—and was a Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) leader. I studied sports management at Leipzig University in Germany and understand the science behind sports. That led me to work as a football pundit, with the BBC ( Swahili service) in London. That experience and exposure took me to covering the 2010, World Cup in South Africa. This provided me with a great insight into international level football commentary and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics.I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, France, Kenya etc, and visited almost all of the key football stadiums across United Kingdom, and Europe.
